Youths reach out

A LAUTOKA youth group reached out to the residents of Lovu HART village affected by the recent floods by cleaning up homes and cooking for them.

PYGMIES (Providing Young Generation Movement In Every Situation) youth club members this week sunned out beddings, cleaned homes and compounds and cooked for the 256 residents.

Youth leader and club co-founder Josateki Labalaba said the experience was life-changing.

"We had 18 youths involved and the look on their faces when they saw the joy they were bringing to these people at Lovu HART was really amazing.

"It made them realise that no matter how difficult life was for them, there were other people who were worse off and they really appreciated what they had at home".

Mr Labalaba said one of the reasons he formed the club was to keep young people away from crime.
