THE Fiji Golf Club women members will be having another week of competition at the Fiji Golf Club course in Vatuwaqa, Suva tomorrow.

The event is a monthly medal event and players will be playing to qualify to play for the club's Foster Cup.

This Foster Cup was first played in 1933, which was presented by the Foster family, a well-known sports family by Miriam and Winnie Foster.

Adi Sai Tuivanuavou won in in 1981-1982 while last year's winner was Sai Yee.

The club's lady captain Susie Yee said the competition had been running for 85 years now.

"We want to continue the tradition and keep the momentum of this competition," she said.

"We want to let our players know the history of this tournament and how it means to Fiji Golf.

"The Foster family has done a lot in the revival of golf in the country and to have this competition played every year is a big boost."

The competition will tee-off tomorrow.
